Change

Endless skies

I took this photo right before I got lost in thought. The sky was so beautiful, I could not look away. I felt free. My thoughts began to wander as I looked up at the endless sky.

I started to think about change. You see, a lot of us fear change. We fear different. We fear new. We all have a comfort zone. A zone where we feel safe. The zone where we know everything.

Here’s a quote I’ve come across and I would always think about when I get anxious about starting something new.

“Comfort and the fear of change are the greatest enemies of success.”

Jeanette Coron

100% truth. We need change in order to grow. To expand our horizons. To be better. To be successful we have to get out our comfort zones and see what we can actually do.

Test our limits. You see that supervisor position available? You’ve learned the ropes. You know you have what it takes to lead. Go for it! You are in control of your life! Don’t let fear of change hold you back from endless possibilities. Grow, flourish.

Ask yourself “What am I afraid of?” Think of the right now (present). Not what can happen down the road or what previously happened. Think about what’s right in front of you. How bad do you want it?

Fear of change is one of the most common fears. If you fear change, you are not alone. I speak from experience with this fear. If you just allow yourself that one moment. That one moment to really dig deep and find that strength. You will find it. Let that strength speak louder than that fear. When fear clouds your mind with “whys” let the strength speak louder with “why not?”

You are in control of your life. You make your decisions. The unknown will always be there. Will you embrace it with open arms? Pick your head up. Chin held high. Feet firmly planted on the ground. Eyes alert and ready to focus.

Embrace change. Be proud. Grow.
